Remember the issue in the regional tournament (or was it super regional?) a few years back about the coaches having agreed before the game about what obstacles on the field would be considered "in play" or "out of bounds"?

LSU hit a ball that went under the rain tarp or something that the outfielder had trouble getting to. Since the fielder made an attempt to get the ball, it was ruled to be live. If he had called "time", the hit would have been ruled an automatic double (?).

Sorry that my memory is so bad and my knowledge of baseball rules is so poor. I was just curious if anyone else remembered what I'm talking about. I found it fascinating that the coaches had actually agreed on that rule change before the game, and it just so happened to play a big part in that game in LSU's favor.

YouTube Deichmann hit a Grand Slam against Rice in the bottom of the first because of this.
