It damn near impossible to find anything wrong with the hottest team in the country. Im loving it! Shhhhhhhhhh

Incredibly pleased with what this team has done over the past dozen SEC conference/SEC Tournament games. When we had to have it, this team gutted out and/or dominated when necessary.

But for me personally as a fan of this program, folks that are posting things like this are like sprinters who take the lead in a 100m heat and pull up and start hot-dogging and preening as if it's the Finals and they broke the tape first.

My personal opinion-and I could really GAS what folks think but I'll go ahead and engage you just to put it on the record-is that we don't put winning streaks, SEC Western Division, conference Co-Championships or 29-6 records in Hoover under Maineiri up on the Intimidator.

We don't convene laps around Alex Box for SEC Tournament Championships. Likewise for National Top 8 Seeds.

Simply put...That is what this program's expectation should be. We should EXPECT this team to play incredibly well when it counts. I understand that with young players stepping in or stepping up, or kids battling an injury or just inexperienced at this level then that's a lot to ask. But that's what LSU Baseball as a program was built upon. At least the program as I view it was built upon those types of expectations.

Sub-Regional Championships and Super-Regional victories and even trips to Omaha don't go up on the Intimidator. National Championships do.

Now I'm not naive enough to think that is going to happen every year. Folks that talk about parity in this sport are exactly right. There's not just merit in that talk or discussion point. It's an observable, tangible fact (not alternative ones either LOL). The road is perhaps tougher now than it was in the past.

But lowering your standards or accepting less than what we stand for in my opinion simply won't work. I still think this program is the best in America by a wide margin and we should demand expectations from it that are similar.

That doesn't mean we can't admire and get excited about steamrolling through the stretch run. Everyone-even Negatigers-can admire beating the hosses on Auburn's starting rotation, or State's Friday Night stud on the road, and to light the SEC Pitcher of the Year up while our Stud throws a CGSHO in post-season play in a heads up battle after we took it on the chin in their place losing 2/3 should make everyone that's a fan of this program beat their chest.

Watching the young pup in CF, or the kid behind the plate figure it out and raise his average what...60 points or some crazy sh!t? Watching this team field it like a team full of Gold Glovers? I may be a demanding a-hole of a fan but it's been a beautiful thing to watch. Having said that...this team and the program it represents-along with their season they're still putting together-won't be judged on any of that. That's the past.

Ultimately, this program will be judged by what we do from here. I give credit to Maineri for putting us in the position we should expect to be in. But that's only half the job he's paid better than anyone in America in this sport to do.

The other half is yet to come, and I am excited to see what we do. We're in prime position.

This is all well and good, but I don't see anyone resting on their laurels just yet. These flurry of threads calling out "negatigers" (hate that term) I think is more directed to the types that were saying just a month ago that this team was hot garbage and would struggle to make a regional, let alone host and be a national seed.
