McKnight has been an advocate of relocating the zoo. Opponents of the idea have said it would decimate an area that is already economically challenged.

Can someone explain this to me? Are they referring to the local tax revenue generated at the zoo?

Banks means that people working at the zoo tend to come from Baker and Plank Rd in Baton Rouge and would probably not have jobs if the zoo moved.

My opinion is that the zoo is not a goddamn jobs program and that anyone qualified to work there can still work there if it moves. They would just have to commute.
