One focuses on the positive things in life, the other the negative things in life.
Not surprising to see one universially loved and the other universally loathed.
I wish more people could see it this way.

Get over yourself. Both of their personal lives and beliefs are a media circus and distraction from their play on the field. They are both altruistic individuals who show the courage of their convictions. One is ridiculed and regularly called gay for his devout faith and the other is called a pariah by grumpy old white guys for his thoughts and protests against social issues he feels strongly about.
