a lot of what you say makes sense, but to act like united isn't about to shell out the same, if not more, money this summer than city is insane.

jose wanted bernardo, bernardo wanted pep. i highly doubt the wages offerred by one club or the other was the deciding factor.

There are already rumors that United were on the trail for Mendy as well and Mourinho allegedly dropped a line about 'the opportunity to play w/ Paul Pogba' and talks went to complete shite.

Of course a club with the prestige and money like United make it attractive

City have had to sometimes pay higher wages to make up the gap to get players
