Yeah, he tried that this last go 'round and got nothing. He tried to threaten to shutdown the federal government, but he pussed out. If he plans to go through with that this go around, you know he's desperate for a win, because he'd have had a lot more public support for it before he leaked classified information to Russian diplomats the day after firing the director of the FBI for investigating his campaign connections to Russia resulting in a special counsel.


Ask for more than what you want? Sure, but you can't reveal yourself to be an idiot with no idea what you're talking about in the process. Suggesting a budget that your own party immediately declares dead on arrival doesn't put you in a powerful position. Republicans are still trying avoid publicly criticizing Trump so as not to anger his base, so forcing them to take the hit by opposing his initial budget only makes it more difficult for them to go out and fight for the cuts that they think are feasible.
