Assange' interview about Rich, where he pushes a reward for info on his murder doesn't leave any doubt that he was a client IMO. Was he the DNC leaker, don't know, but he was attached to Assange in some way. Pretty sure anyone who saw that interview would assume Rich is the DNC guy who leaked their emails, and can't blame them for making that jump...
