The 6.2 is a far more capable engine in an HD truck than the 5.4 was. It still won't win any races but it does come with the same driveline you get behind the diesel, so it should all last forever (again, at the expense of horrible fuel mileage). The new 17's offer some awesome features for an HD truck and I'd be hard pressed to pass that up if I were in the market, even though the chevy 6.0 HD driveline is proven bulletproof.

Dad just got a 17, lariat, 6.2. Truck is super nice and pulls really well. Like people have said it's not going to win a race but it works. We pull his 38' camper to dega and averaged 7.8 mph pulling it 65-70 mph. He only pulls a few times a year so it didn't make sense to but the diesel. And this is coming from a gmc guy.
