I don't follow softball but watched the game last night. Does Bailey Landry always square pull back then run up to slap at the ball. She does not swing away-- struck out 4 times.

Yes, she is a slapper. That's a style of hitting that can be very successful in softball if you are a contact hitter with good footspeed.
Pay no attention to her Ks recently - she has been by far our best player all year but has been in a hellacious slump the past few games
