Yeah, his contract was great, but he was a really good player too. You must have forgot.
You can even google Kawhi Leonard or Chandler Parsons and see people on many websites discussing that very topic several years ago.
In 2013 Parsons averaged 17 points and 4 assists per game as someone who didn't always have the ball in his hands. He was a great passer in the flow of the offense and could score in and out, he played decent defense, and he was getting better.
In 2013 Kawhi averaged 13 points and 2 assists. But he was good on defense and was improving offensively.
It was a legitimate debate in 2013, but Parsons got injured and never really came back from it and Kawhi kept getting better and better. And I'm not saying Parsons would ever have been MVP-caliber like Kawhi... but most people didn't imagine Kawhi would be this good either. I'm just explaining how Parsons got paid.

quote:he had a great season!! For a white guy who spent 4 years in college who was picked in the 2nd round. He shattered his EXPECTATIONS. Nobody expected shite, so that he was "competing" with a kawai potential player-- it's like this guy is going to be the GOAT!! But in reality, he's a guy who spent 4 years in college and was more polished than expected when he got to the league, had some success, and injuries and derailed it all.

It's just great white hype stuff. People are desperate to have elite level white players in the NBA they delude themselves into inflating American whites NBA abilities. And I'm white. People on this board were CONVINCED Kevin Love was a top 5 player in the league. I called him a stat stuffer on a bad team. I think we can agree love in longer in the top 5 discussions
