He's had some serious knee problems the past several years. He's had several surgeries I believe.
He was a good player and only getting better but the injuries really destroyed his game.
When he was with the Rockets, there were legitimate arguments as to who was the better player, Chandler Parsons or Kawhi Leonard. That sounds silly now, but they were both improving at similar rates until Parsons had career-altering injuries.

His value was never his high end skills, but being a very capable NBA player at the fraction of the cost of his peers all with no real investment- just a 2nd round pick.
