40% is definitely an embarrassing approval rating.

With an OP framed so poorly in light of those "Embarrassing New Lows"

. . . . . wait 4 it . . . . . .

. . . . . . still being higher than GOP Favorability,

pardon me for registering your post as wholly duplicitous.

NT, what do you think Mueller as special counsel will find regarding the FBI? Comey specifically? Friends vs findings.

I don't know. I think there's enough on Flynn to possibly entangle a number of people involved with the campaign depending upon what they knew, what they did with that information, etc. I don't have as much insight into Manaforts problems, but they apparently run pretty deep, too.

Does this implicate Trump? On its face of course it looks bad, but it doesn't mean he was specifically tangled up in anything. For sure, I personally have a hard time believing he participated in or sanctioned any overt Russian-state interference into the election. I have a somewhat easier time believing he was aware of some untoward associations by some of his staff and either told them to break it off/keep it away from me or just turned his head altogether.

Cards on the table. People have dropped like flies around every recent president save a few (I think Bush had one major indictment in Libby and Obama has none to date) with it only really getting close to the WH on a couple of occasions. I don't think Trump is necessarily in any legal jeopardy based upon what we know now (unless Comey's memos are really damning and Comey presents them in a very damning way), but his presidency/agenda are definitely in political jeopardy. I'm sure he's not sleeping comfortably. He'll inevitably now have to spend a good bit of his time getting deposed and interviewing with his own lawyers and team in preparation for whatever comes from the SC. You get nervous when you're on the hook for remembering exact details, dates, times, etc of meetings with people, knowing one mistep makes you like you have something to hide (and he frankly hasn't done the optics of this very well so far anyway. So we'll see. I think Flynn will turn out to be the pitch he wants back in a big, big way. And that was such an unforced error. Manafort, like I said, I'm not really keyed in on, but he apparently has some potentially serious problems. I don't think Carter Page and a few of these other guys are going to matter much.

Right.
This very likely will not touch Trump.

My reference was to Comey.

This is the main thing that stuck out to me

You realize this same poll puts Republican favorability even lower right?

While lower it also says unchanged. So Democrats are losing support within their own party. That'll play a role come 2018

Did you even read the Gallup poll they cited?? It literally says in the bullet points at the top
quote:

-40% view Democratic Party favorably, down from 45% in November
-GOP rating basically unchanged at 39%

Democrats are still view more favorably than Republicans.

BOOM!
