I could see using a briefcase if you are going to court on multiple files/clients with little paper (low-grade criminal docket).

There is no way a briefcase is going to hold the massive file I have to lug in with me when I go.

And this. You'll want a briefcase and a trial bag. Separate things.

Yeah, I have a rolling bag I use for major appearances/trial but it sits at the office 98% of the time. For normal hearings and stuff I usually just have a briefcase. But I'm a pretty low volume litigator.
