Small chain that will still stretch with time. Besides, $0.50 key in the cam gear is all that needs to go to lunch that motor...

Have you seen the timing chain on the ecoboost V6 motors? Looks like a damn bike chain .

It's unrelated, I just found it funny. I have a friend who was a Ford Diesel tech and he used to see some of his coworkers fix ecoboost motors. That timing chain was a common problem.

Yes but at a slower rate than a poly/nylon belt.

What motors wouldn't have that issue with foreign substances getting into the internals?
