Also he wished he had a hood some days

When we did ours it was against the house at first and we were told we HAD to get a hood for code. It would have been a a chunk of $ for it all so we moved it so it would not be against the house. Wind cuts across the back porch so sometimes its under but blows through. We would have spent that $ on the vent and it wouldnt have done well.

Puy some outlets in the corner of the ceiling hooked to a switch on the wall. You can put some fans up there to help move air in addition to regular ceiling fans. OR you can use those outlets for nice string lighting. Change wall a switch out for a remote control kind and use your phone to control.

I would also look at making your counter make a L into that 16' area depending what is in that yard. Once you start putting grill, sink, burners, it eats up space fast.
