How so? Because I disagree with the stupid assertion that because LSU is good for a poverty-stricken girl from Lake Providence that it's good for everyone?
That's as dumb as the "college is for everyone" argument.
There is a reason there are other options out there...because every person is different and what's good for one isn't necessarily right for another.
I've yet to see a good reason for why LSU should be the only option. Hell, let's take this a step further. Clearly higher education isn't a priority with Louisiana politicians. And I'm sure the girl from Lake Providence (the litmus test) could have done well at UT, Ole Miss, Arkansas, etc. So why do we need ANY universities in Louisiana?
We need a smart plan for higher education in Louisiana. Closing every university not named LSU at the whim of some guy who sat through a graduation and watched Mary Lou from Lake Providence live a dream is not that plan. It's an obnoxious and condescending view of a man with a superiority complex.

I think part of the problem is that college kids don't want to work. That's become the norm. And it's fricking wrong. Sure college can be about "discovering yourself". You can discover yourself while working 20 hours a week at the local grocery store or a restaurant. It's not fricking hard. But the standard has been set that for a large percentage of people, it's been set that you shouldn't work in school.
This is part of the reason why kids can go to a state school and rack up 30k+ in loans. I got a great job out of college. Even with my "great job" I couldn't imagine paying 300-400 a month in student loans.i do the get why so many people resort to that. It should be a very last choice.
