The middle is always relative of course.
American politics have a funny way of not being pulled too far from the center. We'll see the Bernie faction grow for a few years until people are tired of hearing about 'fair share' and shite they spout.
Then will come a big shift towards right-wing populism. Etc, etc.

They are all the worse candidate.
Who would you find to be a good one?

I don't disagree with any of that. The DNC needs young new leadership in a bad way.
If you could pick anyone, who do you think might fit that bill?

In the meantime Trump is President of the United States for the next fur years with over 100 Judicial appointments to be made. Democrats better hope no one retires on dies on the Supreme Court.
Obstruction & identity politics can not move this country forward.
Democrats are in a world of hurt and are unable to understand why Trump was elected. Republicans may not be able to govern effectively but this is preferable to Democrats who can not lead.

Congress and the White House have been performing badly. I am a moderate independent - pro business (yes TPP and NAFTA) like most Republicans, and pro choice and social security, and hope for single payer health (like most Democrats). There is no representation for democracy and bi-partisanship in our Federal Branches. The Judiciary is performing the best because of Roberts but has become politicized.

the public came together in a massive effort to protest and thwart everything GOP.
If by "public" they mean crybaby SJW extremists, then I guess they're right.

From the unconstitutional Muslim ban to a cruel healthcare bill to the firing of FBI Director James Comey
I see they're still using the term "Muslim ban," which is not what the EOs are. The lower courts' decisions are going to be reversed, thus validating the EOs. One attorney actually went as far as telling the Fourth Circuit that the EOs would have been Constitutional had Hillary Clinton issued them. Wrap your hands around that argument.
What's cruel about the health care bill, and wasn't that legislation Congress' idea?
Again, one liberal brain trust actually said it would have been okay for Hill to fire Comey, but not President Trump. Comey needed to go.

Their success hinges on identity politics and victimization paired with personal destruction of their enemies.
Trump ran on an anti-immigration platform, courting blue-collar workers victimized by bad trade deals, and tweeted a thinly-veiled threat at a potential adversary just last week.
