Saw my mom this morning and its heartbreaking. She doesn't have Alzheimer's, just run of the mill age related dementia but her mind is gone. She's rarely clear on who I am. Sure wish I had found more time to spend with her when she was sharp and funny and full of unlikely stories about the family history in Ireland.

Same with my grandmother who I'm closer to than my actual mother. It's really, really rough.
