You don't know Belicheck very well. This is his master plan. Get Tom injured. Not severely, but just enough to start Jimmy G and get Boston to warm up to moving on. Then he'll get some dumbass organization to mortgage their future to the tune of a 1st, 3rd, and couple of 5th rounders for the last few years of Brady's career.
Bill doesn't cut people. He trades them right before they're out of their prime and accumulates picks.
ETA: But in all seriousness, I fully expect Bill to trade Tom before he retires. They would have dealt Jimmy G by now if he wasn't.
