Back in the day, CBS dropped "Hee Haw", "Petticoat Junction", and a few other shows because they felt the highly-rated shows had the wrong demographics (rural and older). Networks make these decisions, for good or ill.
Remember NBC running the Juanita Broderick story/interview, then refusing to allow any rerun or reuse?
