Looks like they're trying to milk this thing by having us wait for a 3rd movie for the "real explanation"
Because what they showed in Covenant doesn't match with what came before it as far as explaining anything.
Nice of that girl to get naked near the end, though. That was a pleasant surprise.

And that's the point of these movies...ugh. I thought Prometheus was something new and along the way aliens may play a role and you may get an explanation for something but I didn't think it was the purpose.

Then what will really piss you off is Scott has said that the next installment (tentatively titled "Alien: Awakening") will be set between Prometheus and Covenant. And THEN, depending on the success of Covenant and the next installment, he may do 2-3 more before they back into Alien!

Based on Ridley Scott's comments "If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six. I'm not going to close it down again. No way."
It would appear that way.
