I believe it was hatched by the Clinton campaign in an effort to downplay and obfuscate the email scandal. More specifically, criticize HOW the emails were obtained rather than the substance contained therein. Ergo, we were hacked by the Russians, and because people involved, either directly or indirectly, with the Trump campaign at some point in time had connections with Russia, so they were somehow complicit in it.

I think this is right, but the strategy is so dumb. There is ultimately nothing for the US and Russia to "collude" over that is harmful to the US in any meaningful way.

The left and the Dems would be much better served to attack Trump on policy than on "Russia".

They are so stupid for taking their eye off the ball (ACHA) where they were getting meaningful traction and doing this
