quote:This pretty much sums it up.
The ACA has hardly been "affordable." Getting everyone insured is a nice goal, but it's comical that affordable is in the name.
Yes, it would be nice to have everyone covered. But, myself, like many other Americans, are tired of paying for people to sit at home and not contribute to society.
I have a perspective that some on this board may not have. I used to snort heroin like it was some good miracle drug that would extend my life. During that time period, I was deeply involved with the inner cities. Those people who sell dope sit around, use WIC, EBT and get free health care, just because they can. They sit around and most have more cash money on hand than most people would like to think possible. They are born into the belief this is all owed to them and the government should support them, all the while having 100s of thousands and even millions of dollars in cash on hand. Meanwhile, I was working my arse off, paying them in 2 forms. Through taxes so they could sit at home and continue that lifestyle while I worked my arse off and with cash bc I needed drugs to even maintain a horrible existence.
I have completely changed and now work for an engineering company and am doing great, but I am still paying taxes for them to live that same lifestyle.
It's time, for us as a society, to quit promoting this lifestyle and quit giving handouts to people who are able to work and choose not to do so and instead manipulate the system. During my whole struggle, not once did I receive or even want a handout, even though I could have went to rehab and been pretty much covered through handouts through the ACA. I did it cold turkey bc I refused to be a burden on society.
I can't remember who said it, but it's so true. It was basically, once you start giving out handouts and free things, it's hard to take them back bc many become dependant on that and see it as their right. It's really a sad situation we've created, whether it be healthcare, social security or other forms of handouts.
Sorry for the long post, but it pisses me off with my past experiences.

Whoever downvoted you needs a serious arse whopping.
Identity your dumb bitch arse pussies. Then schedule meeting with the nearest sane person near you for your arse kicking.

Give folks just enough to pay for basic sustenance (food, electricity, water, transportation, communication). Their spending cash will come from undocumented income, often from illegal activity.
That income doesn't put anything back into the system. It entirely siphons off of it.
It's the people trying to do it the right way, and just getting by, that pay for their bullshite, and that sickens me.
