I was talking with a coworker about this yesterday (we live in the DFW area). Is the DA/police going to look the other way about the good Samaritan carrying in a bar that is probably a 51% zone? That technically is a felony to bring a gun inside. I'm not certain, but since it was a sports bar, I think they derive over 51% of their business from the sale of alcohol. Just a thought based on what I learned from the LTC class.

The article from the OP says that it was a Blue Sign business.

And after a quick google search this is a blue sign business

"signs are determined by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission based on percentage of alcohol sales. Below 51 percent and businesses get a blue sign – meaning licensed handgun owners can legally carry there."

He could carry there. Likely not a 51% it was Blue sign.
