quote:I'm also an LSU fan, and I floated Beckwith's name a couple times. I think he's going to play a long time, just my opinion.
We selected a guy that has failed to stay on the field for any full season at the same position.
Beckwith got hurt his Sr year after starting for years. If you can't see the difference you are an idiot.
But be objective about this. The Florida guy apparently had some issues early, but overcame that. He was back on the field and was tearing it up, until he broke his forearm.
Unless his arm broke because he has some serious condition, that's just a fluke injury, and he should be back at 100%.
Beckwith had the more productive career in college, but had a season-ending ACL injury late, and nobody really knows how well that is rehabbing yet. That's a legit issue.
Now, how either would fit the Saints' team:
The Saints are stout up the middle, with Fairley and Rankin. It's doubtful they would be gashed inside.
They just drafted a kinda light, primarily pass-rushing DE, so when that guy (or Kikaha) are out there, there may be some concern about a back getting outside.
Beckwith is an inside backer, Anzalone would be an OLB I assume. More athletic, so better suited to drop into coverage, and shore up the outside lanes for the run.
Just fits better.
