So crime isn't a problem in New Orleans?

Come on. New Orleans has a very pronounced crime problem and it affects quality of life, even if it isn't very likely that you'll get murdered yourself.

I know people who've gotten robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the day in down town in New Orleans. That's a lot less likely to happen in most other places.

I never felt unsafe in New Orleans, but the crime was always something that you had to be vigilant about.
