How old are you and your wife? Getting out of New Orleans in your 20s is the best career move you could possibly make.
My wife and I moved to Dallas a year ago and the only regret is that we didn't make the move earlier. We absolutely love it and are never bored.
Give it a shot, New Orleans will always be there, and it's a $200 round trip on Southwest if you ever get homesick.

Sorry I should have explained better earlier.
My wife is 33 and I am 35. We live 30 minutes west of Nola and truth be told I hate it here, but my wife is not the "change" type. This would be for a promotion for her and I would have to look for new job (law enforcement).
We have 16 and 14 year old kids who will both be in high school this year.
What is the real cost of living in outskirts of DFW like car-home insurance and stuff like that. We are looking at Frisco.
Scariest thing is regreting leaving and regreting not leaving if that makes sense. We will have noone for a while.
