Name your top 3 that represent the current spirit of New Orleans culture:
1: Gary Chambers
2: The Council for Aging lady.
3: The fire chief that likes to dress up like a Mexican Marine.
Who Y'all got?

Benson and Louis Armstrong are the only two unblemished New Orleanians who have the gravitas to replace Robert E. Lee (I'm not FOR this, I'm just saying) and have the circle named for them in a somewhat seamless fashion.
That's really the only prominent statue in a visible location discussed being removed. Neither Beauregard or Davis would even need to be replaced if they are sadly removed.
I know that both Benson (Superdome ramp) and Armstrong (Armstrong park / plaque by City Hall) already have a statue / monument / park already but I don't think the current ones are grand enough for either New Orleanian.
I feel like Benson would be more fitting b/c the CBD is the area that he saved (twice or three times - depending on how generous you'd like to be re: his actions after Katrina) with the Saints in 1984 and the Hawnits/Pellies in 2012.
Armstrong would obviously be the more PC choice and would be more marketable.

If you want statues that truly represent New Orleans today:
Gutter Punks
Horrible Roads
Crime Victims
Vacant Buildings
Taxpayers Leaving
All statues can have a sign reading "erected by private funds."

Here's one statue that everyone might like (with the possible exception of the Mannings)
ETA: well, now you have some saying that the fleur de lis is racist, so I guess that we'll have to replace that.

None. Leave the pedestals empty, a testament to the empty heads that would erase history, good, bad or ugly.
