I was trying to tell my friend we were gonna see the end of the Federer era this year, siting tennis players peaking quite early and at 26 going on 27 that he was already past his prime. He's a huge federer homer so i doubt he will be convinced yet, at least now he has some competition on grass.

He's had some didn't Nadal take him to 5 sets in the Wimbledon final? The grass now much more resembles clay than it does the hard courts.

"Of course, I've created a monster, so I know I need to always win every tournament," Federer said with a frown. "Winning every other week, lose a set and people say I'm playing bad. So it's my own mistake, I guess."

Great to see someone beat this guy in a slam other than the French. I'm a big Agassi and Sampras fan myself, haven't watched much tennis since they retired, because Federer just mows over everyone. I really wish we could have seen Sampras in his prime against Federer in his, would have been a Hell of a match IMO.

I dig this out pretty deep, but i just wanted to stroke my ego for calling the end of federer's dominance a year ago.
