I see a resemblance

Especially if said gate only secures one entrance to the neighborhood. University Villas is accessible through Meadow Bend as well. The whole area has gone downhill steadily even with all the new development around Burbank. Very sad.

Well you're already at 4 pages, so it's not much of a call now is it?

oh and a 12 gauge with buck shot.
Every time I read a story in which someone got shot for an attempted break in, it makes me excited. Seriously, if it happened more.. and it became a bigger risk to break into people's houses, then that would do more to stop the problem than anything.

Sure it is. I'm really putting myself out there.

That was a risky move to develop so close to gardere. Someone needs to buy out the people that live in that area to get the crime away from there.

You wanna "buy out" the ghetto? Where do you expect them to go? Another ghetto?

Is that cat wearing a pair of Capri's? Goatee & Capri's, with a skull stocking? Goddamn who's dressing these people?

There are some rumors out there that it is already being done.
With the multi-million dollar renovation to the baseball park, new businesses, and proposals of new buildings and neighborhoods around the Bluebonnet/Nicholson area.... I hear from a few people that some of the apartment complexes in Gardere are being bought out and plans are to tear them down

I've seen this happen on a much smaller scale. But the land owners who were developing a new residential area also owned land near the area being developed that was somewhat "shady". It was a trailer park that houses maybe 30 something families and one day they just sent a letter to the people telling them they had 90 days to relocate and would be removing the trailers from the land.. They had to find somewhere else to live.

Please God let this happen.. Gardere is a pretty big area though.

Happens in CCL also. Guy stood up at our HOA meeting whenever everyone was complaining about crime near Bluebonnet/Nicholson area. He said when he lived in CCL, there had been multiple break ins and a car stolen. His point was no matter the amount of security, the thieves will find a way.
I was actually just having this conversation with a friend the other day. I used to live in CCL. And yes, these things have happened. I know of the bold happening explicitly. It was a stupid young kid, who had a parent that lived there. He was caught, when they asked why he took the car, his response was he was bored and hated his mom. He wanted to go see his dad. Horrible logic from a dumbass, but that is why he says he did it.
YES, there is "crime" in that subdivision. But unlike most every other part of Baton Rouge, it is done by unarmed, spoiled little brats (who check for unlocked car doors). Very low likelihood of getting shot, beat down, or mugged by confronting the perp and a high likelihood of getting your stuff back undamaged. Also, to the best of my knowledge, I have never heard of a break in, robbery, mugging, home invasion,... happening in the 19 years I lived there. I can only attest to 3 events that I know off.
1) the car theft
2) a camera stolen out of an unlocked car in my driveway
3) kids stealing beer and cigs from the golf snack bar
NOT EXCUSING any of it. Just saying, while it may occur everywhere, including CCL, it is definitely not as widespread and / or violent as it is in the rest of the city. Hell, a man was shot (in the arse) in his driveway a couple weeks ago in an attempted robbery while he was walking his dog, in a subdivision less than half a mile from CCL.
TL;DR: crime happens everywhere! Some places however, have much less risk for violent crime and home invasions.
