Personally, I don't give a shite one way or another. Not my city. Not my statues. Keep em up. Take em down. Don't care. But the melt is going to be epic.

The Battle of Liberty Place monument is pretty obnoxious. I can understand how it pisses people off, but it doesn't bother me. But on the other hand, I'm not losing any sleep over it, either.
Jefferson Davis? He was President of the Confederacy ... BAD!!! But he was also a US Senator, Secretary of War and a bunch of other shite. He was incarcerated after the Civil War, but never tried for treason because the government didn't want to try to argue the legality/illegality of secession in federal court.
Lee and Beauregard were no where near as racist as some other prominent leaders of their time, including Abraham Lincoln. It's a shame that these two men who made an effort to reconstruct the country are now denegrated by people with only a minimal understanding of our history.
