It's definitely an ethic issue. Her cells were obtained without consent (a big, big medical issue) while she was receiving treatment at John Hopkins. Those cells were obviously used for a lot of good but no one was ever compensated.
Now the Tuskegee syphillis study is a whole other beast and poor, black men were definitely experimented on.
