Politicians don't want to represent the people. They want to gain and maintain power and control. They will throw small bones to the people to keep getting re-elected, but they are primarily concerned with their own political survival and advancement. It would stand to reason that they are more or less in the same boat, being propped up by the waters of lobbyist money.

Trump will never get Obamacare repealed. Not because he doesn't want to. Not because he's trying to do what his voters elected him to do. It's because congress won't allow it.

degrees

Some dems call for the end of Citizens United and the right of a company to buy an election.
It seems obvious that if any one human person wants to give a bit or a lot, that's one thing and its quite another for a company that stands to make a trillion over a 15 year period to put BILLIONS into electing friends in Congress.

Clearly, more Republicans support fundamentalist views on life liberty and the pursuit of happiness than do Democrats.

I see more dems for absolute freedom than Republicans.
I see more Republicans like the guy from Shreveport {whose affiliations are unknown to me) who wants to end Louisiana colleges from being able to sell beer in student centers. defund planned parenthood looks like a R party favorite. eh?

some issues seem to garner support from both parties.

I think the essentials of Obama/ACA are going to stay because more people want them than want nothing. I think the R's would be swept out in 2018 if they actually just repeal.
