The RNC does this. As does the DNC. And other foreign interests. The Clinton campaign commandeered reddit. Youtubers with millions of subscribers explicitly told their audiences to vote for specific candidates.
Every prominent public figure and established political entity engages in propaganda campaigns, disinformation tactics, and diversionary faux narratives.
Russia's actions were in no way unique.
