Yea, it's required in Yosemite and one other NP I think. Just a pain in the arse is really all it is. I don't see why an Ursack strung up wouldn't be enough.

I wish I could go 45...Looked at a 48, but there's no way that would be enough space.

I haven't followed the whole bear canister thing in eons. In my day ursack was approved for a while but they had just lost their approval. I was using a competitor product called crittersack. Ursack forced them out of business because ursack said they violated a patent of theirs. Crittersack was just a single guy working out of his basement business and didn't have the money to try to fight the patent claim. My Spectra clad crittersack worked great on the AT. Never had a single more problem, at least not with my food. Wool socks on the other hand...
