I saw him. It was great. I wished I'd done that for my dad when he was still with us.

Your grandpa's introduction at the game was my favorite veteran salute this season, maybe ever (although the veteran accompanied by his small children two seasons ago who walked onto the field on his prosthetic legs after being seriously wounded by an IED in Iraq was pretty moving, too).

And 6 posters have downvoted your OP.

I just don't understand some people.....

I was @ LSU with Dave. He and his family are some of my favorite people. Glad your pops had a great day!

You're blessed to still have him with you. We owe that generation so much. I hate to see them leave us. I took my granddaughter to meet a 92 year old WWII veteran. He flew fighter planes off the U.S.S. Yorktown II. To say she was impressed is an understatement. I wanted her to meet a real hero. IMO everyone of those brave men (and women) who fought in any war (especially WWII) is a hero. I met one of those WWII heroes at Luby's the other day. Along with his Viet Nam Vet Son. Couldn't help myself.....I paid for their meal, and was honored to do so. Wasn't much, but I wanted them to know how much I appreciated their sacrifice.

Been browsing here a while but just made an account almost solely to give some well wishes to your grandpa. I've got nothing but respect for our veterans! Bless him and your family. Glad y'all seemed to have a great time yesterday at the Box. Geaux Tigers!

How did you arrange this? My dad is a vet also, will be 88 next month. This would be awesome for him. Thanks in advance.....

They let us get fairly close for the salute. This is a video from near the on deck circle my mom captured.

And again everyone, thanks for the outpouring of support. He was taken back by all of yalls fine comments. We are beyond blessed and greatful to have him still around. It was a very memorable evening.

One of you above posters mentioned going to school with Dave. I wonder if you are speaking of my brother or dad.

I made a post about my father-in-law's service as a B-17 pilot in WWII and it got two down votes.

Oh well, the people down voting posts in this thread keep psychiatrists in business.

Do they honor a veteran during every home series?

To the poster who asked how we arranged this....my father took the initiative.

He called the LSU marketing and promotions department. He worked with a guy named Jason over there and they set everything up. Ask for Jason and they can probably hook you up for a game next season. Hope this helps.
