My brother graduated in '68. His number was 5 so in '66 he made the choice to stay in ROTC for the full four years instead of the two required two years of ROTC. Went to helicopter school in Ft. Rucker, stayed in the Army for 12 years, eventually got a job as a pilot for about 22 years with AA.
He said it wasn't his life's dream but he's glad it worked out the way it did.
