From my experience with similar situations I've learned it's not always about money. If you are doing fine right now and the raise doesn't improve your life substantially then I would def stay closer to the kids. Kids need their dad.

It would pretty much double my salary. I would have so much more job satisfaction and life satisfaction as well. But idk how happy I would be without them.

and how sad would they be without you? how would you now being basically a true part time parent effect their lives? take that into consideration too. how old are they? job satisfaction does not equal life satisfaction IMO. a job and career is one thing, but your kids well being should trump all IMO.

To put it into perspective i turned down a job offer recently that was almost double my salary, bc at the job im at now, I get tons of time off with the kids and wife, and it means more to me than extra cheddar. But again, im not struggling so you have to take it into perspective.

all of this makes me cringe

I would never even consider the offer if it meant leaving kids behind

Really? You think you're better off without your kids being around as much? Do you think they're better off without you? For anyone with half a brain and half a heart, this isn't even a question.

If you're really trying to justify this in your mind, you're fricked up. You had sex. You made babies. YOU have a responsibility.

Suck it up, do the right thing and stop being a bitch.
