That's fricking retarded. Sounds like something my high school football coach would do if they could.

At least when I was in high school, it was a rule in place at Southlake Carroll High School because I had friends I grew up with who lived in Southlake who had to find a select team to join just so they could try out in 9th grade.

Carroll High School was different because its in one of the most affluent areas of Texas, but even then its a retarded rule. The best player at my high school never played select ball and he got a scholarship to Clemson. It's just filtering out late bloomers or those who have baseball talent but never seriously pursued it.
