That's the price we're going to have to pay to get to the bottom of this. I am sick of this excuse that it's "national security" whenever the government wants to cover up its crimes. As Comey said, this case is "special" and in the public interest, so it's going to require that things be done differently than they usually are.

I think it is perfectly possible to reveal the contents of these intercepts without revealing our sources and methods. Things can be redacted to protect that information. The NSA really only cares about that anyway (the technology we use and how we do it). Of course revealing WHO we spied on might compromise some current operations, but I think that can be handled as well.

I mean at this point there isn't a human being in the world that doesn't know that if you talk about it on the phone (or text) the NSA is listening. The Russians know it and have known it for a long time. It's amazing that we even have any SIGINT on Russia at all after the Snowden leaks.
