Years ago I had to give my dogs away to family because I knew they could give them a better home environment than I could. I had recently split up with the guy I was living with and was working 50-60 hours a week at the hospital. My dogs were used to having a big backyard and someone there every evening to let them out.
When we split I moved into a small apartment and they didn't adjust well to the changes. It absolutely broke my heart to let them go, but a cousin offered to give them a home. His wife was home all the time and their kids loved my dogs. I knew it was a much better environment for them.

It's not like I just put them out on the street. I would go visit them at my cousin's house and I could just see how much they thrived in their new home. I knew I had made the right decision. It wasn't a decision I took lightly, I loved those pugs. But living alone...working so much. They started fighting with each other all the time, wouldn't eat at times. They were miserable and it was my fault. I had to do what I could to make it right. Finding them a better home environment was the right thing for them.
