re: What is your opinion of those who get rid of their dogs?

Years ago I had to give my dogs away to family because I knew they could give them a better home environment than I could. I had recently split up with the guy I was living with and was working 50-60 hours a week at the hospital. My dogs were used to having a big backyard and someone there every evening to let them out.

When we split I moved into a small apartment and they didn't adjust well to the changes. It absolutely broke my heart to let them go, but a cousin offered to give them a home. His wife was home all the time and their kids loved my dogs. I knew it was a much better environment for them.

When I got Butters years later I swore to myself that I would never give him away, I never wanted to feel that feeling again(giving your dog away).
