Dirk is one of the most offensively gifted players to ever play in the NBA.

I'm glad you brought this up.
Because that's the point.
There has been this definition of Bird from people who never saw him play. They see Youtube clips or 3-point shot contest in the All-Star game...
But never watched a full game in 1984.
Reducing Bird to "a shooter" or as "the best 3-point guy" is actually an insult.
Bird and Magic are in serious conversations about who is the best passer of all-time. Bird was also one of the best rebounders of all-time...far better than Magic. And of course Bird (this is what he is famous for by people who never saw him play) is maybe the best shooter of all-time.
I posted this question because I wondered if Bird had become narrowed to shite like "3-point shooter" or Dirk...
So it's true.
And that's sad. Every phase of the game...as Pat Riley said, Bird dominated. He won games without even shooting.
But he's now remembered as a sharpshooting 3-point white guy whose equal is some German dude.

I don't really care about downvotes but five?
Just watch Dirk's 2011 playoff highlights. He had an array of moves. He could hit you with a drop step, post spin, step back, and of course his patented fade. He wasn't just a shooter. Dirk in his prime had nimble feet too. The cherry on top here is that Dirk off the top of my head is the best free throw shooting big of all time.
