Are you sure the 675es is going to be updated in October? I had it installed in the middle of November, and it was one of the first ones purchased. It was released at the end of October. It replaced the 665es at the same price point. I would imagine they are going to release the new version of the 365es which has been out for a couple of years now and is 10k.
If our house had not been delayed a month due to them screwing something up in the plans, I would have ended up with the 365es. Ha! Because the 675es had HDR without a buggy firmware update (like the 365es), I decided to spend 5k more and go with it. I imagine Sony is going to at least wait until October of 2018 to replace it. I could be wrong though.
If you are looking at the 675es and the 10k dollar JVC projector (that's not native 4k but gets much brighter than the Sony) get the Sony. It is a killer projector and throws up a picture 2nd to none. It does a great job upscaling 1080p blu-ray content and the native 4k HDR will blow you away. As soon as you see that content, you won't be happy with any other projector.
You are neck deep in the hobby like me, so I am sure you are well aware to make sure you get a nice screen for it. I ended up with a Stewart StudioTek 100 since I have absolute control over ambient light.
I will say be sure to paint the ceiling a dark color! The walls are painted a very dark gray in order to darken the room and reduce the amount of light reflected back on the screen. The ceiling was a standard white. The picture was great, but bright scenes were underwhelming. I had an ISF tech come out to calibrate. He tested it and said if I were to paint the ceiling the same color as the walls, the picture would be 50% better on bright scenes without even calibrating. Had the ceiling painted and he came back out and calibrated it. The difference was stunning. So, save yourself time and go with a dark ceiling!
I love my Oppo 203 player, but it's been a long couple of months for lot of owners. Lots of bugs had to be worked out and I think some have hardware issues. Mine has been great and the firmware updates have solved all the issues. The 205 is coming out in May, but is 1200. You are like me and have a separate source for SACD, CD, etc playback, so stick with the 203.
If you get the URC system, don't skimp on the remotes. I have 3 of their touchscreens (1280) and they will do anything and have good battery life. We have our lighting, central air, alarm, AV, etc on them. Also, if you have an extra or older ipads, they make a sleeve that you can put them in that has some basic physical buttons on them so you can adjust basic stuff by touch. We have one in our theater. The sleeve is magnetic and the built in wall charger is above our light switches. The ipad just sticks on the wall via magnets and charges. I got it just because it looked cool. Ha.
