Anyone else think Trump may be playing long game?

He has been on almost daily discussions with Rand Paul about his bill. I think they deliberately let this fail so that Rand could better get his bill through unimpeded.

He had nearly daily discussions with Mitt Romney about SoS before hanging him out to dry.
Trump hates Rand. Trump hates Mitt.
Trump hates Rand. Trump hates Mitt.

There has to be a companion bill in the House for it.
Right now there is nothing that the House has to offer.

This is what happens when people of faith encounter reality.

The episode was rather weird. The long game is possible. We will find out one way or the other.

I think it's absolutely what he's doing, and it's the right move.
That bill was a sham and anyone with a brain knows it.

Why spend so much political capital pushing it, threatening house reps, attaching your name to it?

Trump did not interfere with the legislative process at all. In fact he supported the bill and worked with Ryan and others to get it passed knowing all along it would fail. Now the Republicans in Congress are feeling the heat. When Ocare implodes, the Dems will feel some heat as well. Then we will get a good bipartisan bill with heavy Trump influence.

Of course that's what he's doing, duh
3-D Chess and President TRUMP is always ten steps ahead.

And had it passed, Trump would have signed it. He would have signed anything put in front of him because he simply doesn't give a shite.

Everyone can continue to act like he is stupid eventhough he won the Presidency in a masterful campaign over supposedly genius polished politicians.

Cwill, Trump is the new kid on the block. If he had pushed his ideas on Congress, they would have resented it. He allowed them to do it their way and was strong in his support. Now, he is in a position to better control the narrative.

No. Only game he is playing is golf.

"Guys, look. This is not a discussion. This is not a debate. You have no choice but to vote for this bill," Bannon reportedly said to members of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus.
But those in the Freedom Caucus weren't buying into Bannon's opening gambit. " You know, the last time someone ordered me to something, I was 18 years old. And it was my daddy. And I didn't listen to him, either," said one member of the caucus.

No. They did not lose face in purpose.
Bill sucks. No one right or left or self important divorcee soccer mom with two kids and a big happy yellow dog in the suv likes that bill. Only ceos and ins companies liked bill.
Power play failed.
Remember trump said he would primary you if you did not just vote yes with no changes. The freedom caucus called his bluff. He said, just kidding.

He didn't even get more votes than Hillary Clinton, the least liked candidate to ever run for the Democrats. A candidate who was in the midst of multiple scandals.
He needed the electoral college, which he has said in the past, needed to be abolished.
Jesus.
