It's been a long process.

They were a small nobody Cinderella for about 5 years and then had to slowly build into a power.

From 1996-2002 they were seemingly always seeded in the teens and would go far in the tournament as the underdog.

I think 2002 was their first seed as high as #6 and promptly lost as the favorite.

2003 Zags were a #2 seed and promptly lost in the second round.

2004 Zags were a #3 seed and promptly lost in the second round.

I think Morrison Zags in 2005 was when you could call the Zags a power as they would get another #3 seed or higher 3 years in a row.

And promptly lose in the Sweet Sixteen.
