Come and See is based on Oskar Dirlewanger's SS Kommando uni "Dirlewanger" which started out as a battalion and later filled out to brigade strength.

Good movie.

There are many good Russian movies on the war, a few of the better ones:

Zvezda "The Star" 2002

Brestskaia krepost "The Brest Fortress" 2010 is a must watch wwII movie, based on the events of the start of the German invasion on June 21st. As told by the youngest musician Sasha Akimov who was 15 at the time of the events.

Father of a Soldier 1964 powerful, the fight in Berlin has some good scenes.

Shtrafbat Prisoner Battalion 2004 mini series very good.

28 panfilovtsev "Panfilov's 28" a new movie worth seeing.

I left out the ones most have already seen.

German must see is

Generation War this is the best WWII east front show from the German point of view.

I have near 40 Russian war films and can understand a lot of spoken Russian, just not that good at the speaking it.
