I actually thought Texas football weekends would have been a pretty accurate harbinger of things to come. It was an absolute shite show down there for the Notre Dame/Texas game for the exact same reasons.

Maybe it wasn't the canary in the coal mine that it should have been because Texas largely sucked most of the year and not as many people came to games.
