Dude, it's Pine trees. They will shed year round, and have sap drips.

And , they are the first to snap in high winds, especially taller/larger ones.

Bottom line, they do not mix with pool areas AT ALL. CUT em and put a couple of strategically placed queens palms for shade desired areas.

My parents have this to deal with, my dad would cut them down if he had a choice.

The absolutely #1 thing to worry about is the root system. If they are anywhere close, and I mean anywhere they will get into your pool plumbing and wreck it eventually costing you a lot of time and money. For that reason, I would not have a tree within 50 ft. There's the rule of thumb that the root ball expands as wide as the branches, but screw that rule you need to go about twice that for something like a pool.
