NO ORDER - (and not really an absolute top5)
Les Paul (not only did he invented the damn thing - and he was shredding 65 years ago - before it was an actual thing to do)
Clarence White (and he took his Les Paul one step further with the B-Bender and brought the ancient string-band back into rock-n-roll)
Wes Montgomery - guys blends chords most of these other guys can't even spell (and what kind of list w/o a jazz player)
John Petrucci - IMO he gets incredible separation even in hyper drive - doesn't blur out
T-Bone Walker - put the show into standard grandstanding (teeth - bind back - in the 40's)
